The Development of a Relationship.

Homestay Hosts are usually parents themselves. They can understand how difficult it can be as a  parent of a child studying overseas.

A Homestay host, arranged by Homestay Australia P/L for your child, can in some circumstances allow you as the parent to reside in their home with your child, for a short period of time.

When this is possible, you as the parent are able to meet the Homestay Host and learn how your child will live with the family that he/she has been placed with. This can give you an insight into the Australian culture and an understanding of how people live in Australia and how your child will become a part of an Australian Homestay home.

This experience also enables you to develop a relationship with the Homestay Host of your child so as you can be informed directly by the Homestay Host of the progress your child is making academically and socially in Australia. We encourage you to email the Homestay Host of your child on a regular basis asking about their progress.

When your child is making an application to study in Australia, please add the request that you wish to reside in the Homestay home for a short period of time upon your arrival. We will begin to make arrangements so as this is possible.

The usual period a parent stays in the home is one week or less. You are required to share the bedroom with your child and pay the same fee as they do for the week you are there. You are not charged any additional Placement fee.

Thank you.
